Prof Akpodiete Joins NDC, Eyes Delta Central Senate

 

A frontline aspirant for the Delta Central Senatorial District seat, Prof. Alex Akpodiete, has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigerian Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akpodiete moved to the NDC alongside a large number of supporters from the eight local government areas of Delta Central, a development seen by political observers as a boost to the party’s growing presence in the district.
The politician, who formally resigned his membership of the ADC, said his decision was based on his conviction that the NDC provides a stronger platform for the pursuit of his political ambition and democratic ideals.
Speaking while addressing his supporters in Ughelli Delta State, Akpodiete expressed optimism about the future of his political movement and the chances of victory in 2027.
“We are fully prepared for the 2027 political contest and confident of victory and we have no doubt about what we can achieve, especially with the grace of God and the strength of the people.”
Akpodiete, a foreign trained lawyer is is a forensic, AI expert and cyber security guru, has remained focused despite the challenges that could arise in the political process.
“There may be obstacles along the way, but we are resolute and committed to changing the narrative within our political space.
He further stressed the need for purposeful leadership and national transformation.
“The mission to transform Nigeria and redefine leadership across all levels is one we are fully committed to.
“Our people deserve quality representation in. Accountability, Knowledge, Progress, Opportunity, Development Integrity, Excellence, Transparency and Empowerment, and a government that truly listens to them.”
The former ADC member has continued to gain visibility within Delta State politics through grassroots engagements and consultations across communities in Delta Central.
